Practicing family law since 1992, Shirley has litigated, mediated, and negotiated all manners of family law issues. With a university background in psychology and experience with corporate law, she offers a unique insight into the personal and emotional aspects of family law while providing a remarkable understanding of the business and financial challenges of separation or divorce.
Shirley’s family law practice focus is out-of-court settlement, using economic and efficient negotiations tailored to your specific situation, needs and priorities.
Fertility Law
Since 1996, Shirley has worked with clinics, hospitals, intended parents, ova donors, sperm donors, gestational carriers and traditional surrogates. Shirley diligently crafts the required agreements and obtains the necessary parentage documents while conforming to the specific needs of her clients and the changing legal landscape.
Shirley provides the support needed during the emotional and exciting time of creating your family and will provide you with the information and guidance you need to make the right decisions at every step of the process.

Shirley is licensed to practice law in Ontario and New York State. After spending her initial years at a large Toronto Bay Street law firm in 1991, Shirley decided to help clients on a more personal level by opening up her private practice, Shirley Eve Levitan, Family and Fertility Law.
Working exclusively in the areas of family law and fertility law, Shirley has extensive experience in restructuring families as a result of separation and divorce and building a family through fertility and reproductive technology.
